The four years before the Kims adopted him were just a blur. The only time his mind seemed to unlock those memories was in his dreams. Which again, were almost always forgotten not long after waking.What Taehyung did know, was that he never quite fit in. And while his adoptive mother had always treated him like her own flesh and blood, his father had seen him as a business transaction.He went to a private school, the best study courses after school and eventually secured a place at Seoul National University to round things off. All in preparation to take his place in the family business.Taehyung tried his best to make his family proud, but his heart was never in it. His thoughts drifted to art and music, performing and creating. Things that were far too impractical to ever be considered acceptable.In fact, there were many things about him that his family would find completely unforgivable. The way he went out seedy bars and private clubs, or how he looked at other men- even what he liked to wear beneath his well-tailored suits.There was far more duality to the 25-year-old than met the eye. Maybe it was because his true family had been full of criminals and murderers and it was simply in his blood. Maybe his mind just wasn't on the same wavelength as everyone else.Either way, Tae was a conflicting mess of rigid training and rebellious tendencies. Upstanding and respectable in the eyes of society, but another person entirely when the night crept in.Twenty-five years and he still hadn't quite figured out who he was or how to balance that with who he was expected to be.
